     Building a new home can be intimidating. There are many choices that have to be made and many more tasks that have to be completed. At Traditions Design Center, we understand that this is a very confusing process for most homeowners. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of the major steps involved in the home construction process. We hope this list helps you understand the order in which your home will be constructed:
  1. Finalize plans
  2. Obtain necessary permits
  3. Prepare lot and stake home on lot
  4. Dig and pour footers
  5. Lay block
  6. Install in-foundation electrical, plumbing, and HVAC
  7. Pour slab, prepare crawlspace, or prepare basement
  8. Frame home
  9. Roof home
  10. Start electrical, plumbing, and HVAC rough-in
  11. Insulate home
  12. Brick home
  13. Hang drywall
  14. Install garage door
  15. Finish drywall
  16. Conduct major clean-up
  17. Prime walls/ceilings
  18. Fix drywall imperfections
  1. Start painting
  2. Install interior trim
  3. Install cabinets
  4. Install siding and aluminum trim outside
  5. Start electrical trim out and fixture installation
  6. Contour yard with bulldozer
  7. Pour concrete driveway, sidewalks, and paths
  8. Install plumbing fixtures (except commode)
  9. Install heat vents and grills
  10. Clean home
  11. Install floor coverings
  12. Set commodes
  13. Hang wallpaper
  14. Install door stops and handles
  15. Install towel bars, tissue holders, and shower doors
  16. Grade yard to finished slope and seed or sod.
  17. Conduct final inspection
  18. Move in
